What we collect and why

Who we are

YapCuts is an auto-editor for talking head videos, run by Save Smart Group Pty Ltd. You can reach us at support@yapcuts.co.

What we collect

• Account details. Your email address and an account ID. If you sign in with Apple, we get the email Apple shares (which can be a private relay address). If you sign in with Google, we also get the name and profile picture Google shares. We use these to create and secure your account.
• Your videos on the web. On the web app, the footage you upload, the transcript we make from it, the cuts and captions you choose, and the rendered result. We use your videos only to edit them for you.
• Your videos on iPhone. The iPhone app keeps your video on your phone. To edit a take it sends us only the sound, which we transcribe. Cutting, captions and export happen on the phone. We store the audio, the transcript and your edit decisions so the project can be processed and reopened.
• Camera, microphone and photos. The iPhone app asks for the camera and microphone so you can record in the app, and for your photo library so you can pick a video and save the finished one. Anything you record or pick stays on your phone unless it goes through the upload described above.
• Billing. On the web, payments go through Whop: we receive confirmation of your plan and the email you paid with. On iPhone, subscriptions are bought through Apple and managed with RevenueCat: we receive the plan, its renewal date and whether it's active. We never see your card details.
• Notifications. If you allow notifications on iPhone, we store your device's push token so we can tell you when an edit is ready. Deleting your account removes it.
• Usage. Minutes of footage processed, so we can meter your plan, and basic error logs so we can fix problems.
• Analytics. The site and the app use PostHog to count page views and the main steps in signing up and using YapCuts: creating an account, starting checkout, paying, uploading and exporting. It shows us where people get stuck. Once you sign in, PostHog records your account ID and email. It does not see the contents of your videos. The Whop pixel attributes sign-ups to the ad or page that brought you here.

Who else touches your data

To process a video we send its audio to ElevenLabs for transcription and the transcript to Anthropic to spot retakes. Files are stored with Supabase, our servers run on Fly.io, web payments run through Whop, App Store subscriptions are tracked by RevenueCat, notifications are delivered by Apple, and product analytics run on PostHog. Each of these processes data only to provide their service to us.

How long we keep it

Your videos, audio and renders stay in your account until you delete the project or your account. Deleting a project removes its files from storage. If you cancel, your account and its content are deleted 90 days after the plan ends unless you ask sooner. Videos that only live on your phone are yours to keep or delete.

Your rights

You can delete your account and everything in it from the iPhone app under Settings, then Delete account. You can also ask us to export or delete your data at any time by emailing support@yapcuts.co. We reply within a few days. If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Cookies

The web app uses a session cookie and local storage to keep you signed in. The iPhone app keeps your sign-in in the iOS Keychain. The site and the app also set a PostHog cookie that links a visit to the sign-up that follows it, and the marketing site uses the Whop pixel for attribution. We do not run advertising cookies of our own.

Children

YapCuts is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has made an account, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will email account holders before it takes effect.
